ZION ALERT! -
SOUND THE ALARM IN ZION!

The Day of the LORD

Isa 34:8 For the LORD has a day of vengeance, a year of retribution, to uphold Zion’s cause.

Isa 34:9 Edom’s streams will be turned into pitch, her dust into burning sulfur; her land will become blazing pitch!

Isa 34:10 It will not be quenched night and day; its smoke will rise forever. From generation to generation it will lie desolate; no one will ever pass through it again.

A Prophecy Against Babylon

Isa 13:1 An oracle concerning Babylon that Isaiah son of Amoz saw:

Isa 13:2 Raise a banner on a bare hilltop, shout to them; beckon to them to enter the gates of the nobles.

Isa 13:3 I have commanded my holy ones; I have summoned my warriors to carry out my wrath

those who rejoice in my triumph.

Isa 13:4 Listen, a noise on the mountains, like that of a great multitude! Listen, an uproar among the kingdoms, like nations massing together! The LORD Almighty is mustering an army for war.

Isa 13:5 They come from faraway lands, from the ends of the heavens— the LORD and the weapons of his wrath—to destroy the whole country.

Isa 13:6 Wail, for the day of the LORD is near; it will come like destruction from the Almighty.

Isa 13:7 Because of this, all hands will go limp, every man’s heart will melt.

Isa 13:8 Terror will seize them, pain and anguish will grip them; they will writhe like a woman in labor.

They will look aghast at each other, their faces aflame.

Isa 13:9 See, the day of the LORD is coming —a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger— to make the land desolate and destroy the sinners within it.

Isa 13:10 The stars of heaven and their constellations will not show their light. The rising sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light.

Isa 13:11 I will punish the world for its evil, the wicked for their sins. I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty and will humble the pride of the ruthless.

Isa 13:12 I will make man scarcer than pure gold, more rare than the gold of Ophir.

Isa 13:13 Therefore I will make the heavens tremble; and the earth will shake from its place at the wrath of the LORD Almighty, in the day of his burning anger.

Isa 13:14 Like a hunted gazelle, like sheep without a shepherd, each will return to his own people,

each will flee to his native land.

Isa 13:15 Whoever is captured will be thrust through; all who are caught will fall by the sword.

Isa 13:16 Their infants will be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses will be looted and their wives ravished.

Isa 13:17 See, I will stir up against them the Medes, who do not care for silver and have no delight in gold.

Isa 13:18 Their bows will strike down the young men; they will have no mercy on infants nor will they look with compassion on children.

Isa 13:19 Babylon, the jewel of kingdoms, the glory of the Babylonians’ pride, will be overthrown by God

like Sodom and Gomorrah.

Isa 13:20 She will never be inhabited or lived in through all generations; no Arab will pitch his tent there,

no shepherd will rest his flocks there.

Isa 13:21 But desert creatures will lie there, jackals will fill her houses; there the owls will dwell, and there the wild goats will leap about.

Isa 13:22 Hyenas will howl in her strongholds, jackals in her luxurious palaces. Her time is at hand,

and her days will not be prolonged.

Isa 14:1 The LORD will have compassion on Jacob; once again he will choose Israel and will settle them in their own land. Aliens will join them and unite with the house of Jacob.

Isa 14:2 Nations will take them and bring them to their own place. And the house of Israel will possess the nations as menservants and maidservants in the LORD'S land. They will make captives of their captors

and rule over their oppressors.

Isa 14:3 On the day the LORD gives you relief from suffering and turmoil and cruel bondage, 4 you will take up this taunt against the king of Babylon: How the oppressor has come to an end!  How his fury has ended!

Isa 14:5 The LORD has broken the rod of the wicked, the scepter of the rulers,

Isa 14:6 which in anger struck down peoples with unceasing blows, and in fury subdued nations with relentless aggression.

Isa 14:7 All the lands are at rest and at peace; they break into singing.

Isa 14:8 Even the pine trees and the cedars of Lebanon  exult over you and say,  “Now that you have been laid low, no woodsman comes to cut us down.”

Isa 14:9 The grave below is all astir to meet you at your coming; it rouses the spirits of the departed to greet you— all those who were leaders in the world; it makes them rise from their thrones— all those who were kings over the nations.

Isa 14:10 They will all respond, they will say to you, “You also have become weak, as we are; you have become like us.”

Isa 14:11 All your pomp has been brought down to the grave, along with the noise of your harps; maggots are spread out beneath you and worms cover you.

Isa 14:12 How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn!  You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!

Isa 14:13 You said in your heart, “I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God;

I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain.

Isa 14:14 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.”

Isa 14:15 But you are brought down to the grave, to the depths of the pit.

Isa 14:16 Those who see you stare at you, they ponder your fate: “Is this the man who shook the earth

and made kingdoms tremble,

Isa 14:17 the man who made the world a desert, who overthrew its cities and would not let his captives go home?”

Isa 14:18 All the kings of the nations lie in state, each in his own tomb.

Isa 14:19 But you are cast out of your tomb like a rejected branch; you are covered with the slain, with those pierced by the sword, those who descend to the stones of the pit. Like a corpse trampled underfoot,

Isa 14:20 you will not join them in burial, for you have destroyed your land and killed your people. The offspring of the wicked will never be mentioned again.

Isa 14:21 Prepare a place to slaughter his sons for the sins of their forefathers; they are not to rise to inherit the land and cover the earth with their cities.

Isa 14:22 “I will rise up against them,” declares the LORD Almighty. I will cut off from Babylon her name and survivors, her offspring and descendants,” declares the LORD.

Isa 14:23 “I will turn her into a place for owls and into swampland; I will sweep her with the broom of destruction,” declares the LORD Almighty.

A Prophecy Against Assyria

Isa 14:24 The LORD Almighty has sworn, “Surely, as I have planned, so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will stand.

Isa 14:25 I will crush the Assyrian in my land; on my mountains I will trample him down. His yoke will be taken from my people, and his burden removed from their shoulders.”

Isa 14:26 This is the plan determined for the whole world; this is the hand stretched out over all nations.

Isa 14:27 For the LORD Almighty has purposed, and who can thwart him? His hand is stretched out, and who can turn it back?

A Lament for Egypt

Eze 30:1 The word of the LORD came to me: 2 “Son of man, prophesy and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: “‘Wail and say, “Alas for that day!”

Eze 30:3 For the day is near, the day of the LORD is near—a day of clouds, a time of doom for the nations.

Eze 30:4 A sword will come against Egypt, and anguish will come upon Cush. When the slain fall in Egypt,

her wealth will be carried away and her foundations torn down.

Eze 30:5 Cush and Put, Lydia and all Arabia, Libya and the people of the covenant land will fall by the sword along with Egypt.

Eze 30:6 “ ‘This is what the LORD says: “ ‘The allies of Egypt will fall and her proud strength will fail. From Migdol to Aswan they will fall by the sword within her, declares the Sovereign LORD.

Eze 30:7‘They will be desolate among desolate lands, and their cities will lie among ruined cities.

Eze 30:8 Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I set fire to Egypt and all her helpers are crushed.

Eze 30:9 “ ‘On that day messengers will go out from me in ships to frighten Cush out of her complacency. Anguish will take hold of them on the day of Egypt’s doom, for it is sure to come.

Eze 30:10 “ ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: “ ‘I will put an end to the hordes of Egypt by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.

Eze 30:11 He and his army—the most ruthless of nations—will be brought in to destroy the land. They will draw their swords against Egypt and fill the land with the slain.

Eze 30:12 I will dry up the streams of the Nile and sell the land to evil men; by the hand of foreigners I will lay waste the land and everything in it. I the LORD have spoken.

Joel 3:9 Proclaim this among the nations: Prepare for war! Rouse the warriors! Let all the fighting men draw near and attack.

Joel 3:10 Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruning hooks into spears. Let the weakling say,

I am strong!”

Joel 3:11 Come quickly, all you nations from every side, and assemble there. Bring down your warriors, O LORD?

Joel 3:12 “Let the nations be roused; let them advance into the Valley of Jehoshaphat, for there I will sit

to judge all the nations on every side.

Joel 3:13 Swing the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, trample the grapes, for the winepress is full and the vats overflow—so great is their wickedness!”

Joel 3:14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision!  For the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.

Joel 3:15 The sun and moon will be darkened, and the stars no longer shine.

Joel 3:16 The LORD will roar from Zion and thunder from Jerusalem; the earth and the sky will tremble.

But the LORD will be a refuge for his people, a stronghold for the people of Israel.

The Day of the LORD

Am 5:18 Woe to you who long for the day of the LORD? Why do you long for the day of the LORD? That day will be darkness, not light.

Am 5:19 It will be as though a man fled from a lion only to meet a bear, as though he entered his house

and rested his hand on the wall only to have a snake bite him.

Am 5:20 Will not the day of the LORD be darkness, not light— pitch-dark, without a ray of brightness?

Am 5:21 “I hate, I despise your religious feasts; I cannot stand your assemblies.

Am 5:22 Even though you bring me burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them. Though you bring choice fellowship offerings, I will have no regard for them.

Am 5:23 Away with the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps.

Am 5:24 But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!

Am 5:25 “Did you bring me sacrifices and offerings forty years in the desert, O house of Israel?

Am 5:26 You have lifted up the shrine of your king, the pedestal of your idols, the star of your god—

which you made for yourselves.

Am 5:27 Therefore I will send you into exile beyond Damascus,” says the LORD, whose name is God Almighty.

Ob 1:8 “In that day,” declares the LORD, “will I not destroy the wise men of Edom, men of understanding in the mountains of Esau?

Ob 1:9 Your warriors, O Teman, will be terrified, and everyone in Esau’s mountains will be cut down in the slaughter.

Ob 1:10 Because of the violence against your brother Jacob, you will be covered with shame; you will be destroyed forever.

Ob 1:11 On the day you stood aloof while strangers carried off his wealth and foreigners entered his gates

and cast lots for Jerusalem, you were like one of them.

Ob 1:12 You should not look down on your brother in the day of his misfortune, nor rejoice over the people of Judah in the day of their destruction, nor boast so much in the day of their trouble.

Ob 1:13 You should not march through the gates of my people in the day of their disaster, nor look down on them in their calamity in the day of their disaster, nor seize their wealth in the day of their disaster.

Ob 1:14 You should not wait at the crossroads to cut down their fugitives, nor hand over their survivors

in the day of their trouble.

Ob 1:15 “The day of the LORD is near for all nations. As you have done, it will be done to you; your deeds will return upon your own head.

Ob 1:16 Just as you drank on my holy hill, so all the nations will drink continually; they will drink and drink

and be as if they had never been.

Ob 1:17 But on Mount Zion will be deliverance; it will be holy, and the house of Jacob will possess its inheritance.

Ob 1:18 The house of Jacob will be a fire and the house of Joseph a flame; the house of Esau will be stubble, and they will set it on fire and consume it. There will be no survivors from the house of Esau.”

The LORD has spoken.

Ob 1:19 People from the Negev will occupy the mountains of Esau, and people from the foothills will possess the land of the Philistines. They will occupy the fields of Ephraim and Samaria, and Benjamin will possess Gilead.

Ob 1:20 This company of Israelite exiles who are in Canaan will possess the land as far as Zarephath; the exiles from Jerusalem who are in Sepharad will possess the towns of the Negev.

Ob 1:21 Deliverers will go up on Mount Zion to govern the mountains of Esau. And the kingdom will be the LORD'S

The Great Day of the LORD

Zep 1:14 “The great day of the LORD is near— near and coming quickly. Listen! The cry on the day of the LORD will be bitter, the shouting of the warrior there.

Zep 1:15 That day will be a day of wrath, a day of distress and anguish, a day of trouble and ruin,

a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness,

Zep 1:16 a day of trumpet and battle cry against the fortified cities and against the corner towers.

Zep 1:17 I will bring distress on the people and they will walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD. Their blood will be poured out like dust and their entrails like filth.

The LORD Comes and Reigns

Zec 14:1 A day of the LORD is coming when your plunder will be divided among you.

Zec 14:2 I will gather all the nations to Jerusalem to fight against it; the city will be captured, the houses ransacked, and the women raped. Half of the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be taken from the city.

Zec 14:3 Then the LORD will go out and fight against those nations, as he fights in the day of battle. 4 On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south. 5 You will flee by my mountain valley, for it will extend to Azel. You will flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the LORD my God will come, and all the holy ones with him.

Zec 14:6 On that day there will be no light, no cold or frost. 7 It will be a unique day, without daytime or nighttime—a day known to the LORD. When evening comes, there will be light.

Zec 14:8 On that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem, half to the eastern sea and half to the western sea, in summer and in winter.

Zec 14:9 The LORD will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one LORD, and his name the only name.

Zec 14:10 The whole land, from Geba to Rimmon, south of Jerusalem, will become like the Arabah. But Jerusalem will be raised up and remain in its place, from the Benjamin Gate to the site of the First Gate, to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the royal winepresses. 11 It will be inhabited; never again will it be destroyed. Jerusalem will be secure.

Zec 14:12 This is the plague with which the LORD will strike all the nations that fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths. 13 On that day men will be stricken by the LORD with great panic. Each man will seize the hand of another, and they will attack each other. 14 Judah too will fight at Jerusalem. The wealth of all the surrounding nations will be collected—great quantities of gold and silver and clothing. 15 A similar plague will strike the horses and mules, the camels and donkeys, and all the animals in those camps.

Zec 14:16 Then the survivors from all the nations that have attacked Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, the LORD Almighty, and to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles. 17 If any of the peoples of the earth do not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD Almighty, they will have no rain. 18 If the Egyptian people do not go up and take part, they will have no rain. The LORD will bring on them the plague he inflicts on the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles. 19 This will be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.

Mal 4:5 “See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the LORD comes. 6 He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse.”

The Man of Lawlessness

2Th 2:1 Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers, 2 not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by some prophecy, report or letter supposed to have come from us, saying that the day of the Lord has already come. 3 Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. 4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.

2Th 2:5 Don’t you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things? 6 And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. 7 For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, 10 and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.

2Pe 3:11 Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 12 as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. 13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness.
